Lydia from Veolia came to talk to Year 2 about recycling and "being green" especially food waste. The children were very knowledgable and listened well. They really enjoyed looking at the worms and seeing how they move.
The children enjoyed a week of fairies based on the play Midsummer Nights Dream. They designed their own fairies and a fairy world, writing character descriptions and stories.
Who does this egg belong to?
2MH were invited to Rushcliffe School for a special Toplinks festival with other Year 2 pupils from Edwalton and Pierrepont Gamston. The children did us proud:they were well behaved (as expected), polite and tried their hardest (winning prizes galore!)
Why can't I live on coke and sweets?
Our new topic started with groups of 12 children being whisked out of class on a secret project with Mrs Rogers, Mrs Smith-Adams and Mrs Malik over a three day period.
They were very impressed with the children's skills as they cut, grated and sliced carefully with only one minor accident!

Mrs Tanner ran a workshop for Year 2, all about Holidays in 1948-1950. The children learnt how holidays were different and were able to compare them with the holidays we take today. They found out about holidays after World War Two, that deckchairs cost 3d to sit on for a morning, and everyone was able to dress up in vintage costume.
Our first Learning Challenge will be:
"What were Holidays like in the Past?"
