Week Beginning 30th January
Wow! What another busy week.
Sunshine class walked to the library on Monday morning.
We spotted lots of buildings and street furniture on the way.
The children were a credit to you all with their perfect behaviour.
Thank you so much for all of the parents that helped.
We could not do these outings without your support.
The Fire and Rescue Service came to visit.
They were called away on an emergency call but luckily soon returned.
They taught us all about their job and showed us their uniform.
We got to go in the fire-engine and even squirted their hose.
In Shape, Space and Measure this week we have been learning about halves.
We learnt that halves have to be equal and that two halves make a whole.
We were able to count half pieces of cake made from play dough and work out how many whole cakes we had.
We also halved even numbers by sharing equally.
We had a wedding in Foundation on Thursday as part of our R.E topic.
We had two beautiful brides, mother and father of the brides, a best man, bridesmaids, flower girls, page boys and photographers.
The children made confetti, cards, invitations, rings and flowers.
The best man made a speech and the first dance was beautiful.
All of the guests enjoyed a disco at the end to celebrate the special occasion!
Week beginning 23rd January
We have had lots of fun this week learning about and celebrating Chinese New Year!
We found out that 2017 is year of the cockerel.
Here are some photographs from our Finger Gym...
On Friday, we all dressed in red and gold for our party because these are lucky colours in Chinese culture. We danced with scarves like a dragon and enjoyed some Chinese food.
Week Beginning 16th January
This week we have been learning about The Police. We have looked at lots of information books and found out about all of the different things that the police do.
We were a bit disappointed because the police didn't visit as the police constable was poorly. They will hopefully reschedule when they are back at work.
We made some fantastic Wanted Posters that are displayed in our classroom.
We have been learning about repeating patterns this week and have made some clever patterns using many different items.
In Maths we have also been estimating and learning to count in twos.
We also learnt what odd and even numbers are. We are so clever!
In P.E. we enjoyed playing cops and robbers on the apparatus.
We didn't like it when we got put in prison!
Week commencing 9th January
We have been learning all about letters; we wrote our own letters, learnt about what goes on an envelope and found out what happens to your letter after you've posted it.
On Thursday, we walked to our local post box. Thank you so much to all the parents who came to help!
Well done, Foundation on another super week at school! Have a fantastic weekend.
Next week, we will be learning all about the police.
Week Beginning January 4th January
Happy New Year to you all.
It is great to see the children back so happy and ready to learn.
We have started our new topic People Who Help Us, by learning about the Post Office.
It would be great if you could take your child to visit a Post Office so that they can see what you can buy and do there.
We have been busy writing and delivering letters and parcels in our role-play Post Office this week.
We have been busy weighing parcels and cars.
We were really good at ordering items by weight
and using the mathematical language, heaviest and lightest.
We have completed lots of postal challenges this week.
We have also been busy thinking about how we are all special
and we have done some super writing about it.
What a great start to 2017!
We went to assembly to meet Mrs Toom and get to know her.
Mrs Toom has also been visiting us in our classrooms and getting to know us all.
She already knows lots of our names.
Please remember to bring in your stamped addressed envelopes and
return your forms so that we can go to the post box on Thursday.
Thank you for the offers of help, we will see you on Thursday.
Please can you bring in cardboard boxes turned inside out and stuck back together so that we can make some emergency vehicles next week. They are easier to paint on the dull brown side! Thank You.
