Week Beginning November 21st November
Another fun packed week has gone by in Foundation.
We had a visit from Zac the Zoo keeper. But he had to rush back to the zoo because the animals had all escaped!
He was in such a rush that he left his penguin egg behind.
Luckily Eva found it in a hat behind the curtain.
So we wrote to Zac to tell him where it was and he came back to collect it.
Luckily it all worked out okay in the end!
We have been practising our communication and language skills this week.
We have been doing lots of wondering and talking about what Percy the Penguin bought at Asda.
We had some super ideas.
We practised our weighing skills this week and made some yummy cakes for the Friary drop in centre on Musters Road.
Helen came to collect them. She told us that people who haven't got homes go to The Friary for a shower, a hot drink and some delicious food. They get to make friends and are offered help and advice.
There is now a depot at Ludlow Hill where we can drop off any old unwanted warm waterproof clothes and shoes, trainers, walking boots etc to help homeless people keep warm and dry.
In Mathematics this week we have been learning about the properties of 3D shapes.
We used dried peas and cocktail sticks to build our own cube.
We counted that it has 8 corners, 12 edges and 6 faces.
Week beginning 14th November
During maths time this week we have been learning all about money. We have been recognising and ordering coins, as well as making different amounts of money. We have been putting our knowledge of money into practise whilst playing in our ice-cream parlour.
Here are some more photographs from our busy week including Finger Gym!
Week Beginning 7th November
We have been learning all about polar bears this week.
We learnt that they live in the Arctic at the top of the World.
We learnt that penguins live at the bottom of the world so they never meet.
We did an experiment to see how polar bears keep warm.
We felt the ice with our hands, it was freezing!
Then we felt it with lard mittens that acted like blubber.
With the blubber mittens we couldn't feel the ice at all.
On Friday we joined Key Stage One for a Remembrance day Assembly.
We learnt all about why people wear poppies.
We made our own poppies and at 11 o clock we watched a clip from cbeebies.
If you would like to watch it again, click on the link below.
Week commencing 1st November
It was lovely to see the Rainbow and Sunshine children after the Autumn Break, they came back to school smiley, eager and enthusiastic!
This week we have been using the Numicon to order and match numbers, make teen numbers and also experiment with different ways to make amounts.
