We worked in groups to create animations for how blossom turns into an apple.
Our Trip to Ruddington Framework Knitters Museum June 2017
The children enjoyed learning about the local industry, the impact of the luddites and making a sock on a frame!
Trip to Cresswell Crags May 2017
Making and exploding volcanoes!
We started our new topic today called 'What makes the Earth angry?'. We started with a wow placing a Mento in a bottle of Diet Coke. The mento creates a chemical reaction causing the Diet coke's gases to expand and explode out of the bottle rather like a volcano. The flow of bubbles continued for a while and we noticed a third of Coke had disappeared.
To complete our Stone Age topic we made traditional Stone Age stews - sweet and savoury!
In our topic on The Stone Age, we tried to find out how they moved stones especially the stones used to create Stonehenge. Here we are experimenting with rollers (tree trunks).
Year 3 enjoyed our exciting start to our topic about rocks and fossils. We made a sandwich to represent the layers in the sedimentary rocks below our feet. We especially enjoyed eating them!
Year 3 have thoroughly enjoyed the Ancient China Learning Challenge and know a lot about life in China now. We finished our topic by making vegetable spring rolls - see photos on Twitter, and then had a Chinese banquet where we used chopsticks!
We especially enjoyed eating the Chinese fortune cookies and finding out our fortune!
The children were enthralled when we opened the special red box tied with a golden ribbon. It kick started our new learning challenge this term about Ancient China. Can you remember what we saw in the box? What do they tell us about life in China now and in the past?
Our Harvest Assembly
(Sorry about the poor quality. We had to compress it rather a lot to get it onto the website!)
