On Friday afternoon, Year 6 had the opportunity to taste test and evaluate some ‘typically Mayan’ ingredients, including: avocado, sweet potato, corn tortillas, salsa, butternut squash, black beans, quinoa and dark chocolate.
It was an ‘interesting experience’… Some food items were certainly more popular than others! Overall, we decided that our favourite foods were corn tortillas and salsa. Quinoa and black beans weren’t quite so popular!
We will now continue with this DT project by using our knowledge from this experience to design and create our own edible Mayan dish. Please look out for a letter detailing when we will be carrying out our ‘cooking’ task.
